Beaches
There are plenty of beaches along this stretch of the Costa del Sol, about 7km away from the town, with golden sands, sun loungers and umbrellas to rent and convenient beach bars. There are water sports facilities for waterskiing and snorkeling, with boats available for fishing trips and scenic coastal cruises.
The Town
Benahavis has a charming Moorish town centre, full of cobbled streets and quaint white-washed homes, and lined with bars, restaurants, craft and antique shops. There are art galleries in which to browse, including one featuring work by the British sculptor David Marshall.
Dining
Known as 'The Dining Room of the Costa del Sol', Benahavis enjoys its first-class reputation as a gastronomic centre, with 20 restaurants and tapas bars offering an excellent standard of dining. Visitors in June can experience 'Gastronomic Day', where restaurants set up stalls in the village and offer samples.
Golf
A favourite spot with golfers, there are seven courses around the resort, giving players a chance to take advantage of the sunshine in Sapin and the gorgeous scenery whilst enjoying a round. For even more choice, there are a total of 20 courses within a 15-minute drive.
Sports and Leisure
The apartments and complexes are home to facilities such as swimming pools, tennis courts and fitness centres, and there are spa and beauty treatments available.
Walking and Hiking
Located in the mountains, Benahavis offers exceptional opportunities for walking and rambling, with varied terrain for both casual strolls and strenuous hikes through the valley and forest. As well as the stunning countryside to enjoy, there are hidden villages, churches and beauty spots to discover and a good choice of flora and fauna to view. The area is also popular with bird-watchers.
Biking and Horse Riding
The many trails and paths are ideal for following on horseback or mountain bike, with private rental and organised tours available. Ride through the beautiful Andalusian countryside, soak up the spectacular views below and work up an appetite whilst venturing out into unspoilt Spain.
Days Out
Benahavis is ideally placed to explore the Costa del Sol and all its sights, being close to both Puerta Banus, with its glamorous marina, and Marbella, home to stylish shopping and exciting nightlife. Other daytrips include the towns of Ronda, roman baths at Manilva, the nature reserve Las Angosturas, the zoo and a trip to a local bullfight. Further afield, Seville, Gibralta and even Morocco are possible day trips.
