Bardolino holidays - Traditional lakeside retreat made famous by wine
Bardolino is a quaint, historic holiday resort on the beautiful east coast of Lake Garda in Northern Italy. Situated in the south of the Riviera degli Olivi - Lake Garda’s 50 km riverside haven - Bardolino is blessed with refreshing views of the lake, a mild climate, typically Mediterranean countryside, great hotels and ancient traditions. In Bardolino you’ll enjoy sunny relaxing holidays, dominated by the peaceful lake itself, where you can try watersports, swimming or sunbathing, or venture inland to ramble in the classically Italian landscape of olive, pine and cypress trees. Bardolino is named after the world-renowned red wine that has long been made in the region.

Holidays to Bardolino - water-facing town steeped in history
If you’re staying at one of Bardolino’s many good quality hotels or holiday apartments, you’ll find yourself located in a welcoming town with a history. Bardolino was once an ancient settlement of lake-dwellers, with archaeological remains showing the pile-supported structures used over two thousand years ago. The Romans also settled here, as did the Venetians who developed wine-making in the area. Bardolino town today features much medieval architecture, narrow pedestrian streets lined with bustling cafes and restaurants, and an attractive lakefront promenade with pizzerias and gelaterie serving ice-cream in mouth-watering flavours. There are two churches of note: the 12th century chapel of San Pietro and the 11th century San Severo church. Having explored the town and harbour, and availed of the shingle beach, you may wish to walk some of the many scenic routes that circle the town, do some wine-tasting, or head to neighbouring Garda town, just a 3 km walk away. Events during the summer season include sailing regattas and orchestral concerts.
