Banjul enjoys constant high temperatures all year round. The rainy season, locally known as 'nawet' runs from June to October with the rain peaking in August and September, triggering an explosion in lush vegetation in the area. High temperatures are consistent throughout this time (average is 30°C but can reach up to 40°C) and there is sunshine every day as the rain usually falls during magnificent evening thunderstorms. Be aware of the malaria risk if you choose to visit at this time, malaria tablets and insect repellent are a must.
