Banjul Weather

Banjul enjoys constant high temperatures all year round. Even in the short wet season you will still see daily sunshine, making Banjul a perfect holiday choice for those who long for hot weather and African adventure. The coastal area around Banjul has fewer seasonal variations in climate due to the north east trade winds, leaving the tropical beaches at optimum temperature all year round and sea temperatures and exquisite 21°C. Drink plenty of water in the dry season as the humidity can rise to 95%.

 

The rainy season, locally known as 'nawet' runs from June to October with the rain peaking in August and September, triggering an explosion in lush vegetation in the area. High temperatures are consistent throughout this time (average is 30°C but can reach up to 40°C) and there is sunshine every day as the rain usually falls during magnificent evening thunderstorms. Be aware of the malaria risk if you choose to visit at this time, malaria tablets and insect repellent are a must.
