Weather in Avithos Mediterranean climate in a tranquil setting
Conveniently situated just 5 miles from Lassi (and 6 miles from the capital Argostoli), Avithos on the south-west coast of Kefolonia enjoys a typically-Mediterranean climate: hot dry summers and mild, wetter winters. With 13 hours’ sunshine per day throughout July, and summer temperatures reaching as high as 30C in July and August, you’ll be blessed with fantastic weather for trips to nearby Makris Yialos Beach and all it can offer. Summer rain does occasionally fall in Avithos, but for the most part you can look forward to a sundrenched couple of weeks in one of Kefalonia’s most peaceful resorts. The average winter temperature is 13C, with cloudy skies and increased rain inevitable until the arrival of warmer weather in spring.

Avithos Weather – Months of glorious summer sunshine
The tourist season at Avithos stretches from May to September. You are sure to pick up a tan as the summer heat gradually intensifies through June, July and August, maxing out at 30C – perfect weather for paddling or enjoying a swim in the cool sea at close-by Ammes Beach (with its distinctive orange-coloured sand). For those who might find the heat a little too much, how about waiting until early September to fly out? The temperature then drops a little to 27C, making exploring the wonderfully fertile region around Avithos more manageable.

Weather in Avithos Warm spring and autumn days, winter rainfall expected
The autumn months of October and November see a further drop in average temperature to 20C. Increased rainfall in winter (December to February) can be expected with up to 12 days’ rainfall per month until spring comes in March. Then, as warmer weather arrives and temperatures remain steady at around 19C throughout March and April, the rain eases considerably. That means day trips to nearby Lassi and Argostoli can be added to your holiday itinerary, as you can enjoy exploring both resorts but without returning to Avithos at nightfall feeling hot, tired and weary.
