Weather in Argostoli Mediterranean climate in Kefalonia’s capital
Located in the centre of the southern coast of Kefalonia, on the east coast of a peninsula, the island’s capital Argostoli enjoys a typically-Mediterranean climate: hot dry summers and mild, wetter winters. The summer weather in Argostoli is as appealing as its natural harbour – a favourite meeting place for tourists and local people alike. With average temperatures in July and August reaching 30C, Argostoli is not only a thriving town, but also a sun-seekers paradise. Overall, summer rainfall is minimal, but you can expect rain during the winter season where the average temperature settles at a cool 14C.
 
Argostoli Weather – Plenty of sunshine, high temperatures during the summer season
Argostoli’s tourist season stretches from May to September. 13 hours’ sunshine every day throughout July means a golden tan is guaranteed as the temperature reaches a scorching 30C. June is almost as hot, but becoming a little more active then is more manageable, heat-wise, with visits to other resorts, such as Sami, Katelios, Fiskardo and Skala, all enjoyable by bus. May and September have an average temperature of 25C, so if it is comfortable weather, you seek, rather than days on end of uninterrupted sunshine, then it might be best to plan your holiday in Argostoli for those months.

As the summer season finally comes to an end, and autumn in Argostoli arrives, October and November sees the increased likelihood of rainfall and temperatures dropping to an average of 20C – perfect for ferry trips to the Greek mainland where you can enjoy shopping and sightseeing without getting all hot and bothered. The winter months (December to February) are cooler still, of course, as temperatures drop to an average of 15C. Do take an extra layer for night-time as temperatures can fall to as low as 6C in January. Winter in Argostoli also means rain, with an average of 12 days’ rain per month throughout this season. As the weather picks up again in spring (March and April) the rain becomes less frequent, average temperatures are 17C, and long alfresco lunches at the Platia Vallianou become the order of the day in Argostoli once more.
