Amoudara Weather

Amoudara lies on the north coast of Crete, just 15 minutes from the capital, Heraklion. This sunny beach resort enjoys a typically-Mediterranean climate, with long hot summers and mild winters, and benefits from a longer than average holiday season, running from April to October.

 

The weather in the spring is warm and sunny, with March and April seeing high temperatures of 15C - 19C, and between 6 - 8 hours each day. These pleasant conditions are ideal for getting out and exploring the region, and enjoying outdoor activities such as tennis, walking, cycling and horse-riding before the island really heats up. Evenings are chilly, however, with temperatures reaching just 11C at night, and the spring months seeing around 38mm of rain. May brings average daytime highs of 23C, 10 hours of sunshine, and just 20mm of rain, whilst June sees temperatures rise to 27C. From July to September the days remain around 27C - 28C, and, with as much as 12 hours of sun, the beaches are full with people sunbathing and swimming. Water temperatures around Amoudara reach 24C, and the warm seas are ideal for water sports and boat trips. In these peak season summer months, the resort receives just 2mm - 8mm of rain, and the night-time highs reach 20C, with visitors taking advantage of the warm balmy weather with alfresco dining and evening strolls.

 

Warm weather continues into the autumn, with daytime highs continuing to hover around 22C in October, and the sun shining for 6 hours every day. The rain does start to increase during this month, with 95mm falling, and in December and January, Amoudara can see up to 150mm each month. Temperatures remain mild, however, during the winter, with the resort seeing highs of 14C - 15C.
