Alikanas – Small welcoming resort with great sandy beaches
Holidays in Alikanas are popular with families and couples looking for a quiet, more traditionally Greek beach resort with superb beaches and the option of visiting pretty neighbouring resorts and interesting inland Zakynthos villages. Alikanas holidays are based in a small welcoming resort in the middle of the north coast of the island of Zakynthos, 12 miles north of Zakynthos Town and 30 minutes from Zakynthos airport. Alikanas holidays share a beautiful sandy bay with the resort of Alykes. Holidays in Alikanas are based in the smaller and quieter of the two resorts and the village has a tiny fishing harbour. Alikanas beach is in fact three beaches in one long bay with the southern Alikanas beach being the longest. Beaches in Alikanas are really excellent, with lovely fine pale sand. Alikanas holidays offer plenty of opportunities for watersports including windsurfing. Alikanas holidays have the best of both worlds when it comes to nightlife. Alikanas holiday evenings offer a good selection of tavernas and restaurants with Greek and international food, and a few bars stay open until quite late. Neighbouring Alykes offers a slightly livelier scene with a couple of discos. Zakynthos Town is just a 20 minute drive away. Most Alikanas holiday tavernas are found by the waterfront and many have fine views across the sea to the island of Kefalonia.

Alikanas holidays reflect the quieter more traditionally Greek side of Zakynthos (Zante). Alikanas holidays combine the beach resort and the tranquil original village with its fine church and local shops. Many visitors include walking and cycling in their holidays in Alikanas as the whole region is quite flat with very attractive fertile countryside dotted with olive groves, vineyards and small farms. Holidays in Alikanas should include a wander down to the attractive villages of Planos and Tragaki or the short climb up to Gerakari with its hilltop setting, fine views and appealing traditional atmosphere. Popular Alikanas holiday excursions include day tours of the entire island of Zakynthos, the caves of Skinari and Keri, and boat trips to Kefalonia and the Greek mainland. Buses run along the coast from Alikanas beach to Zakynthos Town.
