Alhaurin Things To Do

The coastal resorts of the Costa del Sol are within easy reach of the mountain town of Alhaurin, and visitors can enjoy sunbathing and swimming on beaches such as Mijas, Cabopoino, Elvira and Torremolinos. Active guests can try their hand at water skiing, paragliding, sailing or fishing, and the beaches have jet skis and pedalos to rent.

 

Alhaurin has its own 18-hole golf course, with a 9-hole course and a special junior course in the area, as well as a driving range. Golfers are spoilt for choice with three additional courses within a 30-minute drive.

 

As well as the various hotel and apartment facilities, the town has a sports hall and tennis courts, clay pigeon shooting, go carting, quad biking and archery. Fly fishing can be enjoyed in the many local lakes, and a racetrack nearby offers evening horse racing.     

Set out on foot and discover the beauty of the Andalusian countryside, home to tiny whitewashed villages, ancient churches, and spectacular mountain views, or rent a mountain bike to venture further afield. The landscape ranges from rugged mountains to lush green valleys, and boasts wild flowers, protected birds and local wildlife.   

 

Visit the local stables and head out on horseback through the country lanes, mountain trails, or down along the many coastal paths. Trekking is a fantastic way to appreciate the beauty of the region and enjoy a peaceful day out at one with nature. 

 

The town is home to a charming main square, historic Roman remains and a Moorish mill, with other nearby attractions including the gardens at Torrealqueria, the town of Fuengirola and the fishing village at Mijas. Many of the Costa del Sol's favourite sights can be reached from Alhaurin, such as Benalmadena, Puerto Banus, Marbella and Malaga, as well as the stunning village of Ronda, Granada and even day trips to Gibraltar.

 

Families looking for a change of pace can head to one of the area's parks and attractions - choose from Selwo Adventure Wild World, Tivoli World, Aquapark, Gatorland, Fuengirola Zoo and the Dolphin Safari.

 

In addition to the fantastic restaurants, country inns, farmhouses and tapas bars in and around Alhaurin, all serving a range of international and traditional Andalusian cuisine, there is nightlife for all tastes along the Costa del Sol.
