The shallower and most family-friendly is Alanya Beach, on the eastern side of the promontory. For the best views of the town of Alanya and its surrounding Mediterranean landscape, make the climb to the castle and you will be richly rewarded. From here you can also admire the Taurus Mountains which loom above the coastal centre of Alanya.

A family holiday or romantic break in Alanya amounts to far more than beach relaxation. If you enjoy walking there are many coastal paths to enjoy. An exciting trip is to the Dalmatas Caves where you’ll find stalactites and stalagmites. Boat trips around the Alanya headland will give you access to the many sea caves and unusual features of coastal erosion. Alanya harbour is the centre for local fishing, boat hire and extensive markets selling gold, leather, clothes, carpets, and the symbol of this area of Turkey - intricately painted gourds. Alanya is about 120 km from Antalya Airport.
