Irish flag carrier Aer Lingus has confirmed that its expanding route network has aided an increase in February passenger numbers by 15% year on year. The airline also stated that 751,000 customers took Aer Lingus flights in February, up from 653,000 in February 2007.
Aer Lingus has announced new routes from Belfast with flights operating to Faro three times a week. The Faro flights from Aer Lingus will operate on a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with an Airbus A320 aircraft.
Irish flag carrier Aer Lingus made history today as it began flights from its new Belfast base, the first outside of the republic. The Dublin based airline will now operate to nine destinations from Belfast International Airport and by February 2008 will have three Airbus A320 aircraft based at the airport. Destinations served from Belfast include Heathrow, Barcelona, Amsterdam Schiphol, Rome and Geneva.
